

Orrefors and the surrounding area are part of what is known as the ‘Glasriket', Sweden 's famous glassblowing industry. In the rest of Europe the glassware from the villages Kosta Boda and Måleras is especially well-known. Mats Jonasson, the famous glass artist, has an exhibition in Måleras.
All 13 local glass factories offer glassblowing demonstrations and in the summer there are special evening events where you can try your hand at glassblowing. All the factories have their own shops where you can buy glassware and there are several local museums featuring glass art.
UN nature reserve Öland : this island is an hour's drive away and is quite a tourist attraction, especially for the Swedes. It is renowned for its unique flora and fauna.
Nearby you will also find the Pippi Longstocking Museum , the Astrid Lindgren Park and a moose farm.
In Kalmar historical plays are staged in and around the castle and the cathedral in summer.
